Be Strong and Courageous My Friend

A message from Gillian, Executive Director, during this unprecedented time.

Dear Friend,

I pray this letter finds you well. As our country moves into Level 4 alert, I wanted to reach out to you to make sure you and your family are ok?

You are such a wonderful member of our Leprosy Mission Family, and I thank you so much for all you have done for people affected by leprosy who are some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

But now as we face this situation together, I know many of us feel vulnerable ourselves and I would like to encourage you in a verse that has comforted me during this time.

Romans 15:13 New International Version (NIV). it says "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." I believe God is in control.

I am praying for you and I encourage you to join me as we pray for our nation and our global Leprosy Mission family together.

Even though the Leprosy Mission NZ team is working from home, every morning at 9:00am, the team gather together in prayer online via Skype for the current Coronavirus situation and for the people we serve.

You can join with us each day in spirit by praying at home at that time. Do you have a special prayer request? Please fill in this form here or call us on 0800 862 873. We'd love to include you in our prayers!

As a nation we are all in self isolation, and now more than ever I would like to keep in touch and help in any way we can. We are a small team but with a big heart and as we make our plans for working from home, we thought about how we could continue to use our resources to help you and your loved ones.

There are two ways we thought we could do this and help link you to some support:

  • If you or someone you know would appreciate or benefit from a phone call to pray together or to check in, we would love to do this. Please send through the phone number to call.

  • We can offer help with technology maybe you would like help in setting up Skype or WhatsApp or need help with having food delivered, we can connect you or a family member or friend to services like the www.sva.org.nz

Friend, your heart for people affected by leprosy is a blessing now. As we travel these uncharted waters, I ask you to take heart that we are travelling this together. I look forward to hearing from you.

God's peace be upon you during this time for this too shall pass.

God bless,
Gillian Whitley
Executive Director

P.S. I do hope you are keeping and feeling safe at this difficult time. Know that we are thinking of you, praying for you and are here for you. I do hope I or one of the Leprosy Mission team can speak with you soon.
