Leprosy Mission NZ (LMNZ) is a Christian aid and development organisation, and a member of the Leprosy Mission Global Fellowship. The Leprosy Mission’s global vision is to see ‘leprosy defeated, and lives transformed’.
LMNZ funds a range of medical, public health, economic and community development projects across the world with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
LMNZ receives funding from the NZ government, through the NZ Aid programme, along with donations from faithful supporters and church communities. LMNZ is one of New Zealand’s oldest charities, established in 1912, is a registered charity and is governed by an independent Board, elected by its members.
The Leprosy Mission New Zealand seeks to appoint Board members with a balance of independence, skills, knowledge, experience, and perspectives so that the Board works effectively.
Board members are required to carry out their leadership roles with selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, honesty, with due care and attention, and in a respectful and harmonious manner.
This volunteer role, for a minimum term of three years, requires attending approximately two Board meetings and at least two Board Committee meetings each year. Attendance can be in person in Auckland or online. Board members are a member of at least one Board Committee (Resource; Programmes; Supporter Engagement).
It is beneficial but not essential to have experience in relation to Board and governance requirements in a not-for-profit context. Board members are expected to be an active Christian inspired by faith to collaboratively contribute at a governance level.
