Educational Support

The Leprosy Mission New Zealand works hand in hand with ENAPAL in providing scholarship support for children from impoverished families of people affected by leprosy in Ethiopia.

An education is the most valuable asset a young person can attain. It is their best means of escaping poverty and improving their future prospects.

Thus, the Leprosy Mission New Zealand works hand in hand with ENAPAL (Ethiopian National Association of Persons Affected by Leprosy) in providing scholarship support for children from impoverished families of people affected by leprosy in Ethiopia.

236 children (106 females) have received educational support in 9 local associations across Ethiopia.

Educational materials were procured and distributed to children affected by leprosy including 3,288 exercise books, 1,680 pens, 840 pencils and grants of 69,400 Birr ($4,324) for school uniforms and registration fees.

A small number of adults were also supported to attending evening classes to attain a school leaving certificate to give them better job prospects.

Thanks to incredible supporters like you!
