Our 2014 Youth Advocates have described their trip to Kathmandu, Nepal as an "incredible, life-changing and challenging opportunity of a lifetime".
While in Nepal the team saw a real need for a hospital transit bus. Now they are back home and working hard to raise $25,000 for a replacement bus to improve the medical treatment capabilities for both staff and people suffering from leprosy.
Our group of 2014 Youth Advocates have collectively raised $16,500 through High Teas in Dunedin and Mangawhai, Church collections, bake sales, clothing sales and a music concert.
They have also taken on a New Zealand first, to pull a bus! This involved the Youth Advocates pulling a full-length bus to raise awareness for leprosy in New Zealand, and funding for the transit bus in Nepal.
Strongman Colm Woulfe (3x NZ Strongest Man 2012, 2013 & 2014) & friends were there on the day to help them succeed. “I’m stoked I could use my strength for a good cause!”
Thanks to both AUT and Pacific Tourways for making this event possible.
