Eli's right foot is forever disfigured by leprosy and bears a huge debilitating ulcer.
Eli’s right foot has severe nerve damage caused by leprosy, leaving her toes
deformed and movement limited. She has a deep and weeping ulcer on her sole,
and walking on her ulcer risks serious infection and permanent damage. Every step
could bring more harm. Now her left foot has started losing some sensation.
But Eli’s heartbreak goes beyond physical suffering. Eli has been rejected, teased
and scorned because she has leprosy. She has been excluded from games as kids
in her community run away from her, fearing they might contract leprosy from her.
Through PHACE (Preventative Health and Community Empowerment) programme, you are empowering communities to take charge of their health. It builds local leadership, connects people to vital services, and ensures everyone knows their right to dignity and care. By strengthening health workers and uplifting women and girls, you are creating lasting change where it’s needed most.
Your gift today will help protect children like Eli from leprosy in Papua New Guinea.
Your vital support today will be multiplied FIVE TIMES:
- $50 will become $250 - five times the power to help PHACE teams and volunteers to find children like Eli.
- $110 will become $550 - five times the impact for curing leprosy like Eli's, through a carefully managed year-long course of medication.
- $500 will become $2500 - five times the life-changing difference to raise community awareness about resisting leprosy through hygiene, nutrition, and health, and reducing stigma.
This great work among our leprosy-threatened Pacific neighbours would be impossible without help like yours!
Multiply your gift 5X to break the chain of leprosy in Papua New Guinea.
