Saloni was just two years old when she developed frightening symptoms.
Her beautiful tiny hand became so badly twisted and clawed that she could barely feed herself. Leprosy has also disfigured her foot. She has even lost toes to the disease.
“I was struggling to walk and eat by myself. My foot was deforming. My hand was clawing.”
Her parents were mystified and afraid, but had no means to pay for healthcare.
Throughout her life, Saloni’s father has laboured for a pittance, trying to keep his little ones alive, in the withering poverty of India’s poorest state, Bihar. Saloni’s father has sacrificed all he has for his daughter, but all his love and labour are not enough to heal leprosy’s harm.
Today, will you strengthen the hand of parents in poverty for World Leprosy Day?
Please set children and young people like Saloni free from leprosy.
Look what your World Leprosy Day donation will do:
