In September 2024, devastating floods and landslides in Nepal reshaped the landscape around Anandaban Hospital, a place of healing and hope for people affected by leprosy. The disaster destroyed the planned site for a new Research Centre, making it unsafe for construction.

While this was an unexpected setback, the vision remains unchanged. Before the Research Centre can be built, we must first secure new, safe land close to the hospital.

The new land is 1,558m2 of prime land in Nepal, close to Anandaban Hospital, and is expected to be ideal for building a research centre. 

Your foundational gift today will help with the purchase of this land enabling the development of laboratory facilities dedicated to ending the suffering of leprosy and the agony of lepra reaction. 

Land Cost: NZ $1,365 million = $876 per square metre

This Research Centre will support vital clinical testing and research, helping improve diagnosis, treatment, and care for people affected by leprosy in Nepal and beyond. It will strengthen the work of Anandaban Hospital and contribute valuable knowledge to leprosy programmes around the world.
